Local Government Act Review

July 26, 2018

Local Government Victoria (LGV) is undertaking a comprehensive review of the Local Government Act 1989, with contributions invited from Victorian Councils, communities, organisations and individuals.

On 23 May 2018, the Minister for Local Government, the Hon Marlene Kairouz MP, introduced the Local Government Bill 2018 into Parliament, following three years off work and consultation.

“The Bill repeals and replaces the Local Government Act 1989 with a modern, principle based legislative framework for the establishment and administration of a system of local government in Victoria.” (LGV website July 2018).

Following consultation with FinPro Members, the FinPro Executive has made three submissions during this process.

The submissions have been as follows:

Submission 1:     SUBMISSION STAGE 1 Finpro Submission 17 December 2015 – Review of Local Government Act

Submission 2:    SUBMISSION STAGE 2 Local Government Act_Review Directions Paper – Fin Pro Submission Final (002)
