The Humanity of AI

Throughout human history, we have been engaged in an increasingly intricate dance with technology. And although the connection between the basic stone tools developed hundreds of thousands of years ago and the current era of supercomputer-powered generative AI models might not be obvious, there are recurring patterns in how technology impacts humanity.

To explore these patterns and share insights into the impact of AI-type technologies on our work, we are excited to welcome futurist Simon Waller to FinPro. In this opening keynote, Simon will help us understand the opportunities and challenges posed by these transformative tools and show how the lessons of history can provide direction for finance leaders today.

For the sake of humanity, this is a keynote you won’t want to miss!

Simon Waller is one of Australia’s pre-eminent futurists. After completing Master’s level training in futures thinking, Simon worked as a corporate futurist for Rio Tinto in his home state of WA. Since leaving corporate life and moving to Victoria in 2010, Simon has supported dozens of organisations, delivered hundreds of keynotes, and spoken to thousands of business leaders about how futures thinking techniques can help them find better answers to their biggest and most pressing challenges. Over the last decade, Simon has worked with local councils throughout Victoria, as well as other government-related organisations across Australia and New Zealand. Simon has also written a number of books, the latest of which, “The Scenario Planning Guide: How scenario planning can be used to align thinking, stimulate ideas, and overcome the inertia of uncertainty,” was released earlier this year.
